LOVESWELL: A Play For A Good Cause
Why I have chosen theses Causes:
Dear Friends,
We all have the opportunity and power to make a difference in our world. Both causes have touched my heart throughout my life. This I share with you.
The first: Personally, I, like so many of us, have been touched by the disease of cancer. Both my grandparents passed away recently while battling it. I have since met many others and found that even some close friends are battling the disease as well.
Together, we can help find the answers, so that we all may be counseled well toward prevention, treated with respect, and even cured. Our local hospital in Burbank, the Providence Saint Joseph Foundation, is raising money to build a new cancer treatment center to be called, The Roy and Patricia Disney Cancer Center. Their goal is to create a place where patients and their families can turn to receive the best clinical care with a compassionate touch.
The second: Our beaches and environment. Recently my sister visited me along with her nephew who desperately wanted me to teach him to surf. We were saddened to read the large orange signs posted at the nearest beach that warned, “Contaminated Water: No Swimming!” My sister couldn’t believe, what all us surfers and beach goers here in California know, that after any rain there is so much pollution in the water it can make you sick for days.
The Surfrider Foundation, www.surfrider.org, is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education. Our donations will be donated to the local Malibu chapter which fights for our beaches from Marina Del Rey to the Ventura County Line. But the South Bay chapter and the National Foundation are supporting us as well.
In Loveswell, I receive my most important advice from my grandparents, “always follow your heart, Johnny.” Thus, I am donating all of the proceeds of the entire run of LOVESWELL to The Roy and Patricia Disney Cancer Center and The Surfrider Foundation. Together we have the opportunity to raise $16,000.00 or more in the play’s world premiere run for these causes. With proper response, the play could be ensured another run, continuing to raise money and bringing awareness to even more people.
But we can’t do this alone. Please see our list of sponsors below, who have helped make this possible.
If you would like to become a sponsor of this show for this or future runs please contact John.
